Travel Grants
 
COGNO Neuro-Oncology Nurse/Care Coordinator Travel Grant
Application Closing Date: Closed

This travel grant is available to neuro-oncology nurse/care coordinators to assist with expenses incurred in attending the COGNO Annual Scientific Meeting. The grant is valued at up to $1,500.
 
Eligibility: applicants must be a COGNO member who is a neuro-oncology nurse/care coordinator.

 
Abstract Awards
 
There will be four awards available for accepted oral and poster abstracts
(Abstract submission now closed):
  • BTAA Lynette Williams Award (for posters from any discipline in research related to supportive care for people with brain tumour)
  • Young Investigator Award
  • Most Outstanding Oral Presentation
  • Most Outstanding Poster Presentation
BTAA Lynette Williams Award
There will be a prize of $600 for the first prize, and $400 for the second prize, for posters from any discipline in research related to supportive care for people with brain tumours. This award will be presented at the COGNO Conference Dinner on Monday 8 October 2018.

Young Investigator Award
COGNO would like to encourage more participation from members and non-members early in their career path.  The Young Investigator Award is to encourage clinicians and researchers early in their career to submit an abstract.  The prize will be awarded to the best poster or oral presentation meeting the eligibility criteria and will be judged on the scientific merit, clarity, and excellence in presentation and ability to answer questions from the judges during poster presentation or from the audience during oral presentation.  The prize will be $500. This award will be presented at the ASM Summary and Close on Tuesday 9 October 2018.

Eligibility criteria:
  1. Applicants who have been awarded a PhD/MD/MSc within the last 5yrs, OR
  2. Applicants who have completed professional vocational qualification within the last 5yrs AND are currently enrolled in a PhD/MD (research)
  3. Research must be within the field of Neuro-Oncology
  4. Applicants must be available and attend the COGNO ASM to present their poster/oral to be eligible
  5. Applicants must agree, if successful in winning this award, to provide feedback in the form of a letter/short article for display on the COGNO website/newsletter detailing the research that was presented in achieving this award
  6. Applicants will not be eligible if they have previously received this award

Most Outstanding Oral Presentation
There will be a prize of $500 for the Most Outstanding Oral Presentation. This award will be presented at the ASM Summary and Close on Tuesday 9 October 2018.

Most Outstanding Poster Presentation
There will be a prize of $500 for the Most Outstanding Poster Presentation. This award will be presented at the ASM Summary and Close on Tuesday 9 October 2018.
 
 
Other Awards
 
MSD Hubert Stuerzl Memorial Educational Award 2018
The purpose of this award is to encourage education and training in the field of Neuro-Oncology and will provide up to $15,000 for the successful recipient to:
  • Attend an international Neuro-Oncology scientific meeting
  • Undertake a Neuro-Oncology Preceptorship during 2018-2019
